A Truly International Event
For those not so new members in the club you may remember the Your Car Only Trips from the past two years (three years for Vitara owners)
. Well, ZookiMelt is essentially the renaming of what is becoming a Suzuki 4wd
Club yearly tradition.
Why rename? For the past few years, the guys from izook.com have held a ZookiMelt at a 4wd Park called
Badlands in Indiana. I thought we have something similar, lets adopt the name. Then my over imaginative mind came up with the idea of ZookiMelt events all over the world...all on the same weekend
.the research began
.
get in contact with as many Suzuki Clubs in the world, all via email. Surprisingly I got a better response than what
I thought I would.
The following Clubs from around the world are joining in for the inaugural International ZookiMelt: USA - izook.
com, Australia - Suzuki 4wd Clubs of NSW, Vic, QLD & WA, Portugal - Samurai Club of Portugal, Thailand - Su-zuki Club of Thailand, England - London & South East Rhino Riders, Sweden - Ba´Zuki 4wd Club, New Zealand -
Suzuki 4wd Club, Japan - Jimny Club of Japan.
What will we be doing? We will be adopting the same format from previous years, that is, separate trips for Sier-ras,
Vitaras, Non-Suzukis & A-Graders. In the previous two years, the Jimnys have tagged along with the Vi-taras,
and the LJs have gone with the Sierras, and I guess the same will happen again this year if there are not
enough Jimnys / LJs to warrant a separate trip. However, I can assume there will be enough Grand Vitaras to let them go loose by them selves.
The changes: The past two years has seen the Your Car Only Trip be a one day affair. This year we are chang-ing
to the two day format, with camping involved. As this years ZookiMelt is being held in Lithgow, its close
enough for those who are unavailable for the whole weekend to come along on either the Saturday or Sunday.
Trip Leaders: Of course with so many separate trips, we will need many trip leaders. If you want to lead a trip,
please dont hesitate to contact me and let me know. If you feel you dont know the area well enough to lead, Pe-ter Haasmann is leading two trips to the area in April & May, so tag along with Peter to learn a bit about the area.
Grades: All the trips will be C Grade except of course for the A Grade trip.
What do you need to do? Simple answer to this...come along and have some fun. In 2000 we had 49 Vehicles
and in 2001 we had 44
. This year we will blitz the 50 mark for sure!!! (but only YOU can make this happen)
Other happenings: We will be having the obligatory free sausage sizzle (with onions) for lunch on the Saturday
and maybe something similar on the Sunday (have to ok this with the committee). On the Saturday night well be
doing a Camping Smorgasbord and hopefully Trivia By Candle Light or something similar.
So, come along for the weekend or for a day
I promise you a great time :)
More info in the coming months.
Cheers
Marcus
