A thrilling trip to Jim Corbett Park

t was a college trip. Along with 70 other students, I was going to Jim Corbett Park. The idea of visiting the tiger's den was very exciting and thrilling. At 4.30 a.m. two deluxe buses arrived and I was sure that this would be an exciting trip for us.

The journey of approximately 250 km seemed like a new experience for all the students who were dancing and singing throughout the way. The heat of early March was unable to stop the students from having fun.

The first destination was Kashipur where we visited the production houses of a wellknown brand of kidswear and an automobile glass manufacturing unit. The students got a chance to see the different stages of the making of a product.

Then we resumed the journey towards Corbett Camp Resort, Ramnagar, which is between the hills, backed up by the Kosi River. As we walked into the resort all the tiredness of the journey disappeared. We were as fresh as we were in the morning.

After a night around the bonfire and a lavish dinner in the restaurant, we went off to sleep.

It was very refreshing to hear the birds chirping in the morning. Our day began at 4 a.m. with the jeep safari. All of us piled into 15 jeeps for a safari into the park. We entered the jungle with the hope to see some tigers. It was a three-hour safari but unfortunately we did not see even a single tiger. What we saw were spotted deer, elephants, dancing peacocks and a couple of jackals.

We returned to the resort at 10.30 a.m. and after a heavy breakfast got ready for an adventure trip on the banks of Kosi River. Rappelling, mountain climbing, river crossing and bridge fall was on the menu for the next six hours. We returned to the resort at 7 p.m.

The next morning we went back to the Kosi River for some more fun and returned to browse around the souvenir shop in the resort.

We returned after a thrilling and adventurous experience back to our routine life, but the beautiful memories of Corbett remain.

Edward James "Jim" Corbett (25 July 1875 in Nainital, India ? 19 April 1955 in Nyeri, Kenya) was a British hunter, conservationist, author and naturalist, famous for slaying a large number of man-eating tigers and leopards in India.

Corbett held the rank of colonel in the British Indian Army and was frequently called upon by the government of the United Provinces, now the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, to slay man-eating tigers and leopards who had killed people in the villages of the Garhwal and Kumaon region. His success in slaying the man-eaters earned him much respect and fame amongst the people residing in the villages of Kumaon, many of whom considered him a sadhu (saint).

Corbett was an avid photographer and after his retirement, authored the Man-Eaters of Kumaon, Jungle Lore and other books recounting his hunts and experiences, which enjoyed much critical acclaim and commercial success. Corbett spoke out for the need to protect India's wildlife from extermination. The Jim Corbett National Park in Kumaon was named in his honour in 1957.

ในช่วงปลายศตวรรษที่ 19 ชายแดนประเทศเนปาลและเมืองคาเมออน ประเทศ

อินเดียและ ได้เกิดอสูรกายซึ่งเป็นเสือเบงกอลตัวหนึ่งไล่ล่าคนจำนวนมาก มัน
